Last week began with a funeral in Missouri and ended with two funerals in Little Rock (yesterday). Seven people who I’m close to have passed away recently. It’s as if I've been in God's school on death, dying and loss once again. I am beginning to understand more clearly how earth grows dim as we age and heaven looks so appealing.
God must be ever so busy with organization, and all kinds of preparations for the arrival of His huge LIST of family and friends. He simply has called some to come ahead to assist Him in preparation. Many of those who have gone on ahead are going to be welcoming all of us one day. I can almost see them trying out those gold streets by dancing in new freedom and blessing. For the first time, I am having feelings of jealousy concerning heaven. I want to be on that team that welcomes the saints one day.
I do not know the time of my departure from this earthly body, but one thing I do know. I cannot depart until God is finished with my testimony here on earth. When that happens, He will send me on ahead to assist in the preparations. The testimony doesn't stop, it just takes on new form in a new place, a place completely and totally consumed with beauty, a place with no pain, no sorrow, no grief, no loss, no dreaded chemo, no doctor visits, and no hospital stays, no stress, no opposition, no enmity, nothing but Him and His love flowing from the Throne of God. At this time in my life, "I can only imagine" what my response will be when I get there – home, what I was made for.
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face
Is before me
I can only imagine
{Chorus}:
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine
I have one question for you. Are you on HIS list?
